WHICH GRAMMAR IS THE BEST?
There are several hard decisions one must make when deciding which grammar is the
best for the universal all-slavic language Slovio. One has to make a compromise between
several objectives:
SIMPLE: To make the grammar as simple as possible, not only for
the Slavic speakers but for all. However: the simpler the grammar, the less comprehensible
it is for the native Slavic speakers. Simple yes, but not too simple hence we will lose
the native Slavic speakers. An example of the simplistic solution is Basic Slovio
NATURALISTIC: To
make the grammar as "natural" or as "Slavic" as possible. The problem
we encounter here is that the more "natural" is the grammar, the more
complicated, the more difficult and studded with exceptions it becomes. Thus we have to
keep our desire to make it "natural" under control lest we lose the students in
the same confusing complexity they find with other Slavic languages. Naturalistic Slovio
NON-AMBIGUOUS: Most languages have some words which have several
different meanings, thus confusing the inexperienced reader who has to decide which
meaning should he choose. In order to avoid ambiguity and confusion we have to look for
such solutions in vocabulary and grammar which will avoid double meanings and which will
avoid confusion.
COMPROMISE: The current Slovio grammar strives to accommodate
all of the above objectives in the best possible way. While it is perhaps not 100% perfect
and ideal for everybody, it is simple, non-ambiguous and enables clear and precise
communication. It is easy to learn for all yet, at the same time, intuitively understood
by some 400 million Slavic speakers. Standard

FLEXIBILITY: The current Slovio grammar is just a compromise and
we invite Slovio users to try their own grammars and alternatives, hoping that with time
Slovio users will find the ideal grammar, spelling and vocabulary. Flexible
grammar. Unless you have a
clear winning idea we still recommend to use the standard Slovio grammar, spelling and
vocabulary, because based on our experience it offers, currently, the best of possible alternative.
SLOVIO IS NOT A FINAL
PRODUCT
Just like all other languages we expect Slovio to change, adapt and evolve with
times. The official Slovio grammar and vocabulary are solid, precise and non-ambiguous,
but they should be considered only as a start as a base of further development. Your
contribution and your daily use of Slovio will help us to achieve perfection. |
